About Us
Teaching and Learning
We promote a culture of active learning, developing children’s resilience and independence. We believe that it is through this approach that we will truly engage, challenge and motivate our children, developing a life-long love of learning.
As well as embracing the rural community in which we are situated, our approach to teaching and learning enhances the primary curriculum with a rich, varied and balanced programme of activities enhanced by off-site trips.
We aim for each class of children to take part in a-topic-appropriate trip once a term. The knowledge gained by visiting an appropriate location makes a huge difference to the children’s learning. Having physical experience of their History or Geography topic allows them to access knowledge and skills beyond the initial curriculum as well as being really good fun!
Due to our small group sizes, we are able to offer the practice, not just the rhetoric, of personalised learning. Activities are tailored to meet individual needs, with targeted interventions to support and challenge children of all abilities at all stages.
